Bibiani–Kumasi Lorry Fare Remains GH¢37, Not GH¢40 — Transport Union Clarifies
The Bibiani Coalition of Transport Union has dismissed widespread reports suggesting an increase in lorry fares from Bibiani to Kumasi, insisting that the approved fare remains GH¢37.
Speaking to the media on 13th April 2026 ,Monday, the Union’s Secretary, Mr. Eric Gyau, clarified that rumors circulating about a fare hike to GH¢40 are false and should be disregarded by the public. According to him, although there were initial discussions about a possible increment, the decision has since been reviewed, and no changes have been implemented.
Mr. Gyau emphasized that passengers should not pay more than the stipulated GH¢37 for the journey. He further urged commuters who may have been charged GH¢40 earlier in the day to report such incidents to the transport union for immediate redress.
“If anyone was charged GH¢40 this morning, it was a mistake. We encourage affected passengers to report it so the issue can be addressed,” he stated.
The Union assured the public of its commitment to transparency and fairness in fare regulation, adding that any future adjustments would be officially communicated through the appropriate channels.
Passengers traveling along the Bibiani–Kumasi route are therefore advised to remain informed and cooperate with transport authorities to ensure compliance with the approved fare structure.
