Serious Motor Traffic Accident Leaves Several Injured on Bibiani–Kumasi Road

A serious motor traffic accident has left several people injured following a collision between a Honda private car and a Toyota Voxy at Adzenkye on the Bibiani–Kumasi highway.

The incident occurred on Sunday April 12, 2026, at about 4:30 p.m., according to the Bibiani Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), which received a distress report and promptly dispatched officers to the scene.

Upon arrival, police found both vehicles in their final positions, with the driver of the Honda car trapped inside the wreckage. Officers documented the scene by taking photographs and marking key points to assist in further investigations.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of the Honda private car, with registration number GT 872-15, was traveling from Kumasi towards Bibiani. On reaching a section of the road a few meters after Adzenkye, the driver reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle at high speed and without due care, resulting in a head-on collision with the Toyota Voxy, which was approaching from the opposite direction.

Both drivers and all occupants of the vehicles sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital for emergency medical care.

Police later visited the hospital, where victims identified as Isaac Owusu (44), James Cobbina (50), Kwaku Bour (46), Welberforce William Donkor (66), and Abena Boagyewaa (40) were receiving treatment.

The condition of both drivers is reported to be critical, and they have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.

Investigations into the accident are ongoing.
