To the Press, Ladies, and Gentlemen,
RESPONSE TO THE SO-CALLED CONCERNED YOUTH OF BIBIANI-ANHIASO-BEKWAI
I would like to set the record straight that the party in this constituency does not recognize any "concerned youth group." However, the activities of Skirt and Blouse groups were recognized before the 2020 and 2024 general elections.
From the outset, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng did not create division within the party. Instead, the division was created by supporters of the former MP, Hon. Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, who sought to perpetuate his candidature. They established a group called "4-more for Nana," which was used to campaign against the then-MP, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng.
It is absurd to cite an individual as the cause of an election defeat. The NPP's defeat in the 2024 elections was due to a myriad of problems, including voter apathy resulting from unmet expectations. Therefore, it is premature to point accusing fingers at some individuals.
According to research, factions have existed within the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency for a long time. Some members have contested as independent candidates, and it took the timely intervention of Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng to chart a path of peace, enabling the then-candidate to win victoriously in the 2016 elections.
Most disgruntled elements in the party expected financial rewards from the candidate, but he wanted to roll out development projects that would benefit the public and make the party more attractive. These members were being selfish, fighting for their parochial interests at the expense of the masses and supporters.
Mr. Solomon Adjei and his cohorts seem determined to bring back the former MP, Hon. Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, by any means necessary. I want to emphasize that the democratic principles of our great party should not be overlooked. The abusive posture and disregard for the party's principles will spell doom for us.
The bottom line is for the entire party to unite, reorganize, rebuild, and recapture power in 2028. Thank you.
