The Kukuom Traditional Area has publicly expressed its support for the Minister of Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Asunafo South Constituency, Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku, to become the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2028 general elections.
The endorsement was announced by Nana Abiam Addae Danso, Akwamuhene of Kukuom, who spoke on behalf of the traditional area during a programme organised by Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku to distribute start-up equipment to artisans in the Asunafo South District.
The event, which took place at Anwiam, brought together traditional leaders, beneficiaries, party supporters and other stakeholders to witness the presentation of various working tools aimed at supporting artisans to establish and expand their businesses.
In his remarks, Nana Abiam Addae Danso indicated that the Kukuom Traditional Area had confidence in Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku and therefore declared its support for his ambition to lead the NDC into the 2028 general elections.
He made the declaration while commending the MP for his efforts towards supporting local artisans and creating opportunities for people to become economically independent.

Meanwhile, the donation of start-up equipment to artisans forms part of Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku's efforts to support vocational skills development, promote entrepreneurship and improve the livelihoods of people within the Asunafo South District.
The beneficiaries, who are expected to use the equipment to establish or strengthen their respective businesses, are expected to benefit from improved working conditions and increased opportunities for self-employment.
The programme at Anwiam highlighted the importance of combining skills training with access to start-up equipment to empower young people and other individuals engaged in various trades.
