KUKUOM TRADITIONAL LEADERS APPEAL FOR TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE AND ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
The Kukuom Traditional Area has appealed to the government and relevant authorities to consider establishing a Teacher Training College in the area and prioritise the tarring of roads within the Kukuom township to promote education and improve transportation.
The appeal was made by Nana Abiam Addae Danso, Akwamuhene of Kukuom, who spoke on behalf of the traditional leaders during a programme at Anwiam in the Asunafo South District.
The event was organised by the Member of Parliament for Asunafo South and Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku, to distribute industrial machines to master fashion designers and other beneficiaries as part of efforts to support local businesses and promote skills development.
Addressing the gathering, Nana Abiam Addae Danso expressed concern about the need for improved educational infrastructure and better road networks in the Kukuom Traditional Area.
He appealed for the establishment of a Teacher Training College in Kukuom, explaining that such an institution would create opportunities for young people in the area and neighbouring communities to pursue teacher education without necessarily travelling long distances.
He also called for the tarring of roads within the Kukuom township, stressing the importance of good road infrastructure in facilitating transportation, promoting economic activities and improving the living conditions of residents.
According to him, improved roads would make movement easier for residents, traders, farmers, students and other road users while enhancing development within the traditional area.
The Akwamuhene urged Hon. Dr. Eric Opoku to help communicate the concerns of the traditional leaders to the appropriate authorities for the necessary attention.
The requests, he indicated, form part of the traditional area's broader development aspirations, particularly in education and infrastructure.
The programme at Anwiam also provided an opportunity for traditional authorities and community members to engage with their Member of Parliament on issues affecting development in the Asunafo South District.
Residents are hopeful that the appeal will receive the necessary attention from government and other stakeholders to help address the educational and road infrastructure needs of the area.
