Fire destroys five shops in Bibiani, owners appeal for support
A devastating fire recently swept through shops in Nantwikumye, a suburb of Bibiani in the Western North Region's Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality.
The blaze ravaged five shops, causing significant damage to two dressmaking shops, a cosmetic shop, and a hairdressing shop.
According to Richmond Appiah, Public Relations Officer of the Bibiani Municipal Fire Service, firefighters received a distress call and quickly responded to the scene, managing to bring the fire under control despite its intensity.
Unfortunately, the fire destroyed valuable items, including industrial sewing machines, fabrics, cosmetics, cash, and artificial hair.
The Municipal Fire Service Commander, DO2 Enock Tetteh, emphasized the importance of using proper electrical materials in homes and shops to prevent future fire outbreaks.
He echoed concerns raised by the Ghana National Fire Service about electrical faults and substandard materials being common causes of fires in the country.
The Ghana National Fire Service has been working to determine the causes of such fires and urging citizens to adhere to safety measures.
DO2 Enock Tetteh urged the public to use certified electrical materials and professionals for installations. He added that they should regularly inspect electrical systems and address potential issues promptly.
