WNR: GAAM Rejects Local Gov't Ministry's Proposed Amount For Payment Of Ex-gratia For Outgoing Assembly Members
The Ghana Association of Assembly Members (GAAM), Western North Regional Chapter, led by Regional President Hon. Ackah Nelson Frank, has rejected the Local Government Ministry's proposal regarding the payment of ex gratia to outgoing assembly members nationwide.
Hon. Frank stated that they will not accept any such proposal.
In response to the proposal, he emphasized that the ministry needs to revisit and reissue a new proposal, as the current letter contains contradictions in its clauses and standing orders.
He argued that it is unlawful for the Ministry to propose specific amounts for ex gratia payments, citing inconsistencies in their statement.
"When has the time the Ministry ever proposed payment for our allowances and T&T during assembly meetings?" he questioned.
"They need to come again, as we cannot accept such unlawful actions against outgoing assembly members."
Furthermore, Hon. Frank urged swift action to facilitate the payment of ex gratia to outgoing assembly members.
