Concern Youth of Bassengele Launch Association with Community Clean-Up Exercise
Bassengele, a community in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, witnessed renewed civic enthusiasm as the Concern Youth of Bassengele officially launched their association with a large-scale community clean-up exercise.
The initiative, which brought together members of the association and local residents, underscored the group’s commitment to environmental sanitation, unity and grassroots development.
Addressing the gathering, the leader of the association, Mr. David Achampong, popularly known as Yaw Okra, explained that the Concern Youth of Bassengele is made up of natives of the community who are currently living and working in various cities and towns across the country. Despite their physical absence, he said members remain deeply committed to the growth and wellbeing of their hometown.
Mr. Achampong used the occasion to urge residents—particularly the youth—to rekindle the spirit of volunteerism, noting that meaningful community development thrives when citizens willingly offer their time and resources.
He stressed that maintaining a clean environment is both a civic and moral responsibility, adding that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
The Secretary of the Association, Mr. Ernest Adjei, highlighted several achievements already recorded by the group. These include the repair of faulty streetlights to enhance community security, support for the needy, and the construction of a KJ block for the Bassengele M/A Basic School, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions.
He assured residents that the association remains focused on initiating and supporting development projects that will positively impact education, sanitation and social welfare in the community.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional authorities, the Assembly Member and the entire Bassengele Electoral Area, Mr. Osei Mensah, the Unit Committee Chairman, commended the association for choosing a clean-up exercise to mark its official launch.
He described the initiative as timely and exemplary, and encouraged the group to sustain its development-oriented efforts.
The clean-up exercise saw participants desilting gutters, clearing refuse and tidying public spaces, marking a strong and purposeful beginning to the activities of the Concern Youth of Bassengele.
