W/N: ONLY 1 WOMAN PICKED FORM AT SEFWI JUABOSO OUT OF 46 ASPIRING FOR ASSEMBLY MEMBER POSITION

The Electoral Commission ( EC) has set Tuesday, December 19, 2023 for the 2023 District Level Elections (DLE).  

The tenure of serving Assembly Members, who were elected in 2019, will expire in December this year, necessitating the election of new Assembly Members for the next four years.  

The Sefwi Juaboso Electoral Commission (EC) Officer Mrs. Fatima Kantom, said 47, picks forms to contest for the upcoming District Level Elections at Sefwi Juaboso while 164 also for Unit Committee.

Speaking to Obrempong Kwame Yeboah of Bibianinews.com, the EC Officer explained that out of the 47 aspiring assembly members, only one woman and the 164 unit committee members to 8 women show interest.

She underscored the importance of women as a sound and necessary investment in local governance processes.

She said the election of women into the District Assembly,she said was therefore critical in promoting the inclusion of a disadvantage group increasing equitable allocation of public resources ensuring public accountability and helping raise gender-specific concerns to activate rapid national socio-economic development.

She advises the voters that they should go in their numbers during the election to vote for the right person in their electoral area.
