W/N: Bibiani Gov’t Hospital Engages Stakeholders on the role of sustaining of training medical and physician assistant after medical and dental council approval.
Improving the ability to provide good quality care—care that is effective, safe, people centred fair, integrated, and efficient, the medical superintendent of the Bibiani government hospital, Dr. Akwasi Adu Gyamfi has announced that The Medical and Dental Council has given approval to train Medical Officers and physician Assistants in Hospital in the following areas; Obstetrician Gynecologist, Surgeon Specialist and Pediatrician Specialist.
In view of this, managing the facility has organised a stakeholders’ engagement at their premises to pencil a roadmap to sustain the program in terms of financial burden, benefits and the role of stakeholders.
After a long hour of deliberations, The President of the National House of Chiefs and paramount chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso traditional area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi ll said the program will support governing Ghana’s strategy for strengthening primary health care at the sub-district level and improving the accessibility and quality of essential health services.
The Health Program will also support the networking of primary health care services and strengthen key management and financing systems.
He tasked stakeholders in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality to deliver on their pledges made to support developing the Bibiani hospital in due course.
The MCE, Hon Paul Andoh also in his speech expressed his profound gratitude to the president, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo for the opportunity given to Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai municipality, adding that this will support improvements in coverage of the National Health Insurance Scheme, including for poor and vulnerable groups, and in its financing of primary health care services.
He however added that it will give opportunity to the Youth who are interested to becometh doctors and Physician Assistants, and also will help to develop the municipality.
The Medical Officer in charge of clinical coordination, Bibiani municipal hospital, Dr Kevin Kwakwa speaking with the media hinted House Officers and three specialists, Obstetrician Gynecologist, Surgeon Specialist, and Pediatrician Specialist will come from Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to the Bibiani hospital to train which according to him they needed sustainable revenue generation scheme to keep the program running for about twenty or thirty years to come.
He pointed out accommodation as one of the major challenges stakeholders should intervene and support to house the specialists when they come.
