Sanity in the prophetic ministry: Nana Baffour Gyau Endorses President Mahama's move

The Chief Priest of Asuo-Paamu in the Atwima Mponuah district of the Ashanti Region, Nana Baffour Gyau, has expressed support for President Mahama's recent directive requiring all prophecies and spiritual insights to be delivered to the Office of the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations. In an exclusive interview with Bibianinews.com on August 11, 2025, Nana Gyau stated that the clergy appreciates the presidency's willingness to collaborate with them on sensitive matters related to prophecies and tragedy scope in the country.

Nana Gyau emphasized that some prophets in Ghana need wisdom to authenticate their prophecies and therefore require regulation to curb recklessness. He noted that the presidency needs to engage further with spiritualists and the Christian Council to clarify the details of the directive issued on August 10, 2025.

According to Nana Gyau, the Office of the Presidential Envoy will help strengthen national coordination on spiritual matters, especially during times of uncertainty and complexity. "Some prophets are doom prophets; they always look forward to tragedies for their fame. I totally agree with the president; this could bring sanity to the service for clarity," he said.

Nana Gyau added that when revelations occur, there might be prayers and seeking guidance from God to prevent or mitigate the happenings. He stressed that irresponsible prophets have devalued the work of prophesying in Ghana. The office of the envoy, he concluded, will facilitate broader discussions with the government on collaborative directives addressing uncertainties affecting the country.
