The Bibiani Old Town and Zongo Mine Workers Association has brought joy to many Muslim families in Bibiani Zongo through the donation of food items ahead of the upcoming Eid-Al-Adha celebration.
The Association donated bags of rice, cooking oil, and sardines to support Muslims in the community as they prepare for the festival. The gesture forms part of the Association’s efforts to promote unity and support vulnerable people within Bibiani Old Town and Zongo.
Presenting the items, the Chairman of the Association, Mr. Dauda Adam, explained that the group believes in supporting both Christians and Muslims during their festive seasons. According to him, the Association made similar donations to Christians in Bibiani Old Town during the Christmas celebrations, and therefore found it necessary to also support Muslims ahead of Eid-Al-Adha.
Mr. Dauda Adam stated that members of the Association are natives of Bibiani Old Town and Zongo who have gained employment opportunities through the mining company operating in Bibiani. He noted that it is important for them to give back to their communities and assist people who may not have enough resources to celebrate the festival.
“We are all from these communities, and since the mining company has employed us, we believe it is our responsibility to support our people, especially those who may find it difficult to celebrate Eid-Al-Adha,” he said.
He further appealed to mine workers from the two communities who are yet to join the Association to become members so that together they can continue to support the welfare and development of Bibiani Old Town and Zongo.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, the Assembly Member for the Bibiani Zongo Electoral Area, Hon. Abdullahi Mohammad Adam, expressed gratitude to the Association for their kind gesture and timely intervention.
He described Eid-Al-Adha as a special period where families prepare and share meals with loved ones and the needy, adding that the donation would go a long way in helping many families celebrate the festival in happiness.
Hon. Abdullahi Mohammad Adam also encouraged more youth from the two communities to join the Association, stressing that such groups can play a major role in championing developmental projects and community support initiatives.
He used the occasion to thank the management of Bibiani Mines for employing many young people from Old Town and Zongo and appealed to the company to offer more employment opportunities to the youth.
Some beneficiaries who received the items also expressed appreciation to the Association, saying the support would greatly help them and their families celebrate Eid-Al-Adha comfortably.
The donation has been widely praised by community members as a symbol of unity, love, and support among the people of Bibiani Old Town and Zongo.
