WESTERN NORTH YEA DIRECTOR HAYFORD PANYINN APPLAUDS GOVERNMENT AND CEO FOR FULFILLING PROMISE TO EMPOWER YOUTH

Sefwi Dwinase, Western North Region — The Western North Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Hayford Panyinn, has commended the government and the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr. Malik Basintale, for fulfilling their commitment to provide young people in the region with tools and equipment to support their livelihoods.

His commendation follows the presentation of a consignment of tools and equipment by the YEA Chief Executive Officer to the Western North Regional Directorate for onward distribution to selected beneficiaries across the region.

Mr. Panyinn described the intervention as timely and a significant demonstration of the government's commitment to tackling youth unemployment through skills development, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

He said the provision of start-up tools would give young people the opportunity to establish businesses, expand existing ventures and gradually become employers rather than depend solely on formal employment.

“We are grateful to government and to the CEO for keeping their word. These tools and equipment will go a long way to empower our young people, help them start businesses, and become employers rather than job seekers,” he stated.

Equipment to Support Young Entrepreneurs

Mr. Panyinn noted that the equipment, including industrial sewing machines, chest freezers, fufu pounding machines and other income-generating tools, would directly support beneficiaries engaged in various trades and businesses across the Western North Region.

He said the intervention would not only benefit individual recipients but could also contribute to the growth of the local economy by creating employment opportunities and improving household incomes.

According to him, empowering young people with the necessary tools and skills is critical to reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance.

Assurance of Transparent Distribution and Monitoring

The Regional Director assured that the Western North Regional Directorate would ensure that the equipment reaches the intended and verified beneficiaries through a transparent and accountable distribution process.

He explained that the Directorate would also work closely with beneficiaries after distribution to ensure that the tools are properly utilized and maintained.

“We will work closely with the beneficiaries, provide them with the necessary guidance, and follow up to ensure these tools translate into jobs and sustainable livelihoods,” Mr. Panyinn added.

He further encouraged beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously, use the equipment for its intended purpose and remain committed to building sustainable businesses.

Beneficiaries to Receive Equipment

Beneficiaries across the Western North Region are expected to receive the items in the coming days as part of the Youth Employment Agency's broader efforts to equip young people with practical resources for entrepreneurship and self-employment.

Mr. Panyinn expressed optimism that the intervention would contribute significantly to improving the livelihoods of beneficiaries while helping to create additional employment opportunities within the region.

The YEA has reiterated its commitment to supporting young Ghanaians with skills, tools and opportunities that can enable them to become economically productive and contribute meaningfully to national development.
