Teachers Urged to Be Punctual and Serve as Role Models to Students

The Dwantuahene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Nana Kofi Ankra IV, has called on teachers to take punctuality seriously and report to school on time to ensure effective teaching and learning.

According to him, teachers play a critical role in shaping the character, discipline and attitudes of students and must therefore lead by example both in and outside the classroom.

Nana Kofi Ankra IV expressed concern about situations where parents send their children to school as early as 7:00 a.m., only for some teachers to arrive much later.

He said such practices could negatively influence students, as children are likely to copy the behaviour of their teachers and other adults they look up to.

The traditional leader therefore urged teachers to see themselves as role models and demonstrate professionalism, commitment, discipline and punctuality in the discharge of their duties.

He emphasized that arriving at school on time would enable teachers to adequately prepare for lessons and ensure that instructional hours are fully utilized.

Nana Kofi Ankra IV further encouraged teachers to pay attention to the overall development of their students, stressing that the responsibility of a teacher goes beyond academic instruction.

He called on school authorities to strengthen supervision and encourage a culture of punctuality and accountability among teachers to improve educational outcomes.

The Dwantuahene also urged parents to support teachers and school authorities by ensuring that their children attend school regularly and on time.

He made the call as part of activities surrounding the launch of the 2026 My First Day at School programme in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, where stakeholders highlighted the need for collective efforts to improve the quality of education in the municipality.
