Queen Mother Calls for Greater Attention to Girl-Child Education

The Bibiani Ajenia Queen Mother, Nana Abena Fuakyewaah, has called on parents, teachers, community leaders and other stakeholders to give greater attention to the education, development and welfare of the girl child.

According to her, educating girls is not only an investment in their individual future but also a major contribution to the development of families, communities and the nation as a whole.

Nana Abena Fuakyewaah stressed the need for parents to provide equal educational opportunities for both boys and girls, cautioning against practices that place greater value on the education of boys while girls are left behind.

She noted that when girls are given the opportunity to acquire quality education, they are better positioned to become responsible mothers, professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society.

The Queen Mother therefore encouraged parents to support their daughters to remain in school and pursue their educational ambitions, particularly at a time when many young girls face challenges that could interrupt their education.

She also called on teachers to create a supportive and safe learning environment where girls can freely express themselves, build confidence and develop their talents without discrimination.

Nana Abena Fuakyewaah further urged stakeholders to intensify education and mentorship programmes aimed at empowering girls and protecting them from factors that could negatively affect their education and future prospects.

She emphasized that the development of a nation depends largely on the quality of education provided to its young people, adding that no society can achieve sustainable development if a significant portion of its population is denied equal access to education.

She therefore encouraged parents, teachers and community leaders to work together to ensure that every girl is given the opportunity to reach her full potential.

Her call was made as part of activities marking the launch of the 2026 My First Day at School programme in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, where stakeholders renewed their commitment to improving education and creating a better future for children in the municipality.
