Sankore Township to Receive 5 Kilometres of Asphalt Roads Before Christmas – Hon. Eric Opoku

Residents of Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency are set to benefit from a major road infrastructure project as the Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Asunafo South, , has announced that the township will receive five kilometres of asphalt roads before Christmas.

The announcement was made during the presentation of six brand-new pickup vehicles to the Asunafo South District Health Directorate at the launch of the Asunafo South District Assembly's Free Primary Healthcare Programme.

Addressing residents and stakeholders, Hon. Eric Opoku said the road project forms part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and enhance the quality of life in Sankore and the wider Asunafo South Constituency.

According to the Minister, the construction of the asphalt roads will improve mobility, enhance road safety, reduce dust, and give the township a modern appearance while facilitating commercial and social activities.

He appealed to the traditional authorities and residents of Sankore to cooperate fully with the contractor to ensure the successful execution of the project.

Hon. Eric Opoku specifically called on chiefs and opinion leaders to assist in addressing structures that have been erected within road reservations, explaining that such encroachments could delay construction if not removed.

He urged property owners whose buildings or other structures fall within the designated road alignment to support the exercise in the interest of the community's long-term development.

"The success of this project depends on our collective support. I appeal to the traditional authorities and all residents to cooperate with the contractor, especially where there are structures within the road reserve. Once we work together, the contractor will have enough space to complete the project on schedule," he said.

The Minister stressed that the asphalt road project would transform the appearance of Sankore, improve access for motorists and pedestrians, and make the township more attractive for businesses, investors, and visitors.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed before Christmas, bringing significant relief to residents who have long called for improved road infrastructure.

The announcement was warmly received by residents, who expressed optimism that the construction of the five kilometres of asphalt roads would not only beautify the township but also boost economic activities, improve transportation, and contribute to the overall development of Sankore.

The project forms part of broader development initiatives being championed by Hon. Eric Opoku to improve infrastructure, healthcare, and socio-economic opportunities across the Asunafo South Constituency.
