About 100 children at the Homa Ghana Orphanage, Bibiani Branch, were filled with joy and excitement when members of the 1993 batch of Catholic ‘A’ Junior High School (JHS), Bibiani, paid them a special visit and presented assorted items to support their upkeep.
The kind gesture formed part of activities to commemorate Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration and the ongoing Bibiani Independence Festival. The former students donated items worth thousands of Ghana cedis to help improve the welfare of the children at the orphanage.
Items presented to the home included bags of rice, large gallons of Frytol cooking oil, dozens of underwear, packs of soft drinks, toiletries, and 100 bags of sachet water, among other essential supplies.
Speaking during the presentation, the Chief of Bibiani Hwenampori, Nana Ebiri Kwaku III, who is also a member of the 1993 Catholic ‘A’ JHS batch, together with some of his classmates, explained that their visit was motivated by the desire to share love and support with the less privileged in society.
According to them, the Independence Day celebration is not only a time to reflect on Ghana’s freedom but also an opportunity to show compassion and unity by supporting vulnerable members of society. They therefore called on other old students’ associations, corporate bodies, and individuals to emulate their gesture and extend a helping hand to orphanages and other charitable institutions.
Receiving the items on behalf of the orphanage, the Manager of Homa Ghana Bibiani Branch, Pastor Emmanuel K. Boateng, expressed profound gratitude to the 1993 Catholic ‘A’ JHS batch for their generosity.
He described the donation as timely and highly beneficial to the children, noting that such acts of kindness go a long way to support the daily needs and well-being of the orphans.
Pastor Boateng also appealed to other well-wishers, organizations, philanthropists, and individuals to follow the example of the group by supporting the orphanage to help provide better care for the children.
The visit was marked by moments of interaction, laughter, and encouragement, as the former students spent time with the children, creating a memorable and uplifting experience for everyone present.
