PRINCIPAL OF SEFWI WIAWSO NURSING AND MIDWIFERY COLLEGE APPEALS FOR INFRASTRUCTURAL SUPPORT
The Principal of Sefwi Wiawso Nursing and Midwifery College, Michael Antwi Adjei, has appealed to government and philanthropists to support critical infrastructure development at the institution.
The appeal was made during the college’s 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony, where a total of 356 newly admitted students were officially inducted into various nursing and midwifery programmes.
Addressing the students, Mr. Antwi Adjei congratulated them on their admission and underscored the vital role healthcare professionals play in national development. He urged them to remain disciplined, committed, and compassionate as they embark on their academic and professional journey.
The new intake forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare workforce, particularly in the Western North Region. The college currently offers programmes such as Registered General Nursing (RGN) and Registered Midwifery (RM), both accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
Despite these strides, the Principal highlighted significant infrastructure deficits affecting the college’s operations. He noted the urgent need for a well-equipped sick bay, renovation of existing hostel facilities, and the installation of modern security systems to improve safety and enhance the overall learning environment.
Mr. Antwi Adjei therefore called on the government, corporate bodies, and benevolent individuals to partner with the institution to address these challenges and support its growth.
Meanwhile, the college has recorded some notable progress in infrastructure development. A two-storey ultramodern students’ hostel is currently under construction, while a 400-seater lecture hall is also being developed with support from Kwaku Afriyie, Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Wiawso.
These developments are expected to significantly improve academic delivery and student accommodation upon completion.
