Constituency Executives and some supporters of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency in the Western North Region have cleared weeds around abandoning Sefwi Asafo Community Day Senior High school in Sefwi Wiawso Municipality.
Speaking with the media, the Constituency chairman Mr Patrick Quanoo expressed worry over abandonment of the project and urged the president as a matter of urgency to release fund to continue the project.
The project, which is a foundation level, started in 2016 under the Community Day Senior High school projects started by the former administration and when completed, the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency will have five senior high schools.
He said the wedding is to remind the president and municipal chief executive for the area to return to the site and continue the project which was started by Mahama administration with taxpayers’ money.
Mrs. Augustina Avadu Abah, the Constituency women Organizer, hinted that the NDC has already pledged to offer high numbers of women in the next government should the party win the 2024 presidential elections.
According to her, this would motivate women who, under normal circumstances, would be marginalized in government.
The NDC understands prizing women's participation in its campaign this time to secure victory in the 2024 elections. Once they secure victory in 2024, the party highlights their commitment to ensuring that women play a crucial role in government.
The Constituency parliamentary candidate Mr Afful Kofi Benteh expressed worry over the government’s failure to continue the Community Day Schools across the country.
“If you go across the country, you will find them at different stages of completion…some are almost completed, yet they remain unoccupied. If you look at the children in that community and its surrounding communities, they have to travel several kilometers to go get secondary education when a secondary school is on their doorstep,” he said.
He told party members that the NDC is on a mission to rescue Ghana from the abysmal performance of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He therefore called for togetherness and promised that they would work day and night to ensure that they wrestle the Sefwi Wiawso seat from the New Patriotic Party NPP come the general elections.
