Apostle Samson Kooson of True Faith Church International has come under intense public criticism after allegedly making derogatory remarks about the Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II.

According to reports, the controversial statements were made during a radio program on De Beat FM, a popular local station based in Sefwi Asawinso in the Western North Region.

During his preaching on the program, Apostle Kooson allegedly described the revered Omanhene as an “empty chief,” a “chief without vision,” and a leader who lacks positive thinking.” He further claimed that chiefs in the Sefwi area only gather at the palace to perform traditional rituals such as cutting sheep, remarks that many residents and traditional leaders have described as deeply disrespectful and offensive to the institution of chieftaincy.

The comments have since sparked widespread outrage across the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, with several community members expressing concern over what they view as an attack on the dignity, authority, and cultural heritage of traditional leadership.

Reacting strongly to the development, the Dabihene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area and Chief of Sefwi Kumkumso, Nana Kwabena Asiedu II, has issued a one-week ultimatum to the pastor to publicly retract his statements and render an unqualified apology to the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council.

Speaking on the matter, Nana Kwabena Asiedu II emphasized that religious leaders are expected to use their platforms to preach peace, unity, and transformation, rather than insult or undermine respected traditional authorities who play vital roles in maintaining peace, unity, and development within their communities.

He also called on the national leadership of True Faith Church International to immediately present the pastor before Nananom (the traditional council) to answer for the remarks made during the radio broadcast.

According to him, failure by the pastor to publicly apologize within the one-week deadline will compel the traditional authorities to take further action to protect the dignity and integrity of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council.

The incident has since triggered heated discussions both on social media and within the local community, with many residents calling for calm while urging religious leaders to be more measured and respectful when commenting on issues involving traditional authorities.

Observers say the development highlights the sensitive relationship between religious leaders and traditional institutions in Ghana, stressing the need for mutual respect and responsible public discourse to maintain harmony within communities.
