Bibiani: 59 Tailors and dressmakers apprentice participate in NVTI Proficiency one examination
The National Vocational Technical Institute (NVTI) held its 2024 Proficient one examination for some fifty-nine (59) Tailors and dressmakers apprentices at Bibiani for both zone “A” and “B”.
Mrs Mavis Kwao, the examiner in an interview with Bibianinews.com, explained that the exams are a way of assessing the competencies and Skillset acquired by these apprentices throughout their various duration of instructions by their instructors.
She emphasized that successful candidates will receive an NVTI Proficiency One Certificate.
The apprentices comprised fifteen (15) males and forty-four (44) females.
She urged dressmakers and tailors to take advantage of the changing trends in the fashion industry for Ghana to benefit from the huge investment in that industry.
She said the fashion industry was among the fast-growing and valued industries in the world, and Ghana had the potential to benefit from the huge investment in that industry.
Mr Prosper Otchere, the chairman of Zone “A,” said that the certificate would equip them to compete equally for better jobs or contracts in their fields.
He encouraged them to demonstrate good behavior and attitude at work and should not think that ones they engaged in the exams, that is all.
Master Francis Kwasi Mireku, chairman for zone “B” on his part requested the government to make funds available to enable members to expand their businesses and create more jobs for the youth because the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of creating jobs for the increasing number of the youth in the country.
He expressed regret that some parents had refused to provide basic support to their children engaged in vacation, which he said had led most of the apprentices, especially the girls, to indulge in immoral acts to fend for themselves.
He subsequently invited other masters and madams who are part of their association to do so for their apprentices to have access to the NVTI exams.
