National Development Requires Accountability and Strong Values – Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Quaicoe

Bibiani, Western North Region – Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Quaicoe, Parish Priest of Christ the King Catholic Church at Bibiani Kyekyewere and tutor at Queens Girls' Senior High School at Sefwi Anhwiaso, has called on Ghanaians to embrace accountability, discipline, and checks and balances in their daily activities to promote national development.

He made the remarks in an interview with the media after participating in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly's National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, held at the Trinity Assemblies of God Church in Bibiani.

The event was organised under the theme, "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want," and brought together religious leaders, government officials, traditional authorities, security personnel, and members of the public to pray for peace, unity, and the progress of the nation.

According to Rev. Fr. Quaicoe, Ghana's development depends not only on government policies but also on the attitudes and actions of every citizen. He stressed that individuals must be guided by honesty, responsibility, and accountability in both their personal and professional lives.

He explained that establishing effective checks and balances in everyday activities would help reduce corruption, promote transparency, and encourage responsible leadership at all levels of society.

The Catholic priest further urged Ghanaians to return to the nation's core moral and ethical values, noting that the theme of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving serves as a reminder that rebuilding Ghana begins with a change in individual attitudes and behaviour.

Rev. Fr. Quaicoe encouraged citizens to support one another, respect the rule of law, and work collectively towards creating a peaceful, prosperous, and united Ghana for future generations.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving forms part of efforts to promote national unity and inspire citizens to reflect on their responsibilities in nation-building through faith, integrity, and service.
