NDC COMMUNICATOR CALLS FOR DECORUM AND MUTUAL RESPECT AMONG POLITICAL ACTIVISTS

BIBIANI — SEPTEMBER 1, 2026: A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Mr. Abdul-Samed Mohammad, has called on political communicators and activists to desist from using insults and abusive language in political discussions.

According to him, politics should be centred on ideas, policies and constructive discussions rather than personal attacks and insults.

Speaking on Stylish Radio’s morning show, hosted by Hamza Mohammad, Mr. Abdul-Samed Mohammad urged political actors to be mindful of their choice of words whenever they are given the opportunity to speak on radio, television and social media platforms.

He said communicators who appear on media platforms are effectively representing their political parties at that particular moment and must therefore conduct themselves in a manner that protects the image and reputation of their respective parties.

“When we come on radio, television and other social media platforms, we should understand that it is an opportunity to represent our parties. We must therefore be careful about what we say,” he cautioned.

Mr. Abdul-Samed noted that political communicators should not assume that they are the most knowledgeable people in every discussion simply because they have been given the opportunity to speak.

He pointed out that among the people listening to political programmes are individuals who may be more educated, experienced or older than the communicators themselves.

He therefore encouraged communicators to approach political discussions with humility, maturity and respect for the audience.

According to him, political disagreements are natural in a democratic society, but such disagreements should not degenerate into insults, personal attacks or disrespect.

He stressed that politics is not about insulting opponents, but rather about presenting ideas, defending policies and convincing the electorate about why a particular political party deserves their support.

The NDC communicator further appealed to members and supporters of both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to respect one another despite their political differences.

He said Ghana's democracy would benefit when political actors focus more on issues affecting citizens and engage one another based on facts and policies.

Mr. Abdul-Samed also encouraged media presenters and political communicators to promote responsible political discourse, particularly as political parties gradually position themselves ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He maintained that political communication should help educate and inform the public rather than create unnecessary tension and division among citizens.

He concluded by urging both NDC and NPP communicators to remember that political opponents are fellow Ghanaians and should therefore treat one another with dignity and respect.

His comments were made during a political discussion on Stylish Radio 102.1 FM’s “Stylish-In-The-Morning,” hosted by Hamza Mohammad, where political representatives regularly discuss national and constituency-level issues.
