Kyeikrom Basic School Receives First Computers in 55 Years Through Nana Kyemere Kokoankra II’s Foundation
Kyeikrom Basic School has received its first set of computers in 55 years, thanks to the benevolence of Nana Kyemere Kokoankra II, Divisional Chief of Wassa Dominase in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region, under the Wassa Amenfi Paramountcy.
The donation was made through the Nana Kyemere Kokoankra II Charitable Foundation, based in the USA.
The gesture follows a request by the Queen Mother of Kyeikrom, Nana Adwoa Pomah, and her elders, who recently constructed a computer laboratory through communal labour to enhance the technological education of children in the community.
Presenting the computers and accessories on behalf of Nana Kyemere, Abusuapanin Nkrumah Nelson reiterated the chief’s strong commitment to education and related initiatives.
He appealed to the headmaster, Queen Mother, and elders to ensure proper care of the equipment so it can serve its intended purpose.
Community leaders—including the Kyeikrom Abusuapanin, Elder Charles Kofi Addo, Kwame Bawuah, the Krontihene, and Hon. Kwame Ali Mohammed, Palace Secretary—expressed profound gratitude to Nana Kyemere for honouring Kyeikrom with the school’s first-ever computers since its establishment. They pledged to ensure proper maintenance and longevity of the equipment.
The headmaster of Kyeikrom D/A Basic School, Mr. Isaac Bediako (Ike), also expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the teaching staff.
He noted that although the pupils had heard about computers, many had never seen or used one before, making the donation a significant milestone in their learning experience. He assured that the computers would be put to good use and appealed to Nana Adwoa Pomah and her elders for continued support in maintaining the equipment.
