In a joint effort to promote road safety and responsible riding within the Bibiani community as the Christmas festivities approach, Asante Gold Bibiani Limited (LMT), in collaboration with the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Bibiani Police Command, has organized a one-day workshop for commercial motorbike riders, popularly known as Okada riders.

The event, held at the Bibiani Roman Parish Hall, brought together dozens of Okada riders from across Bibiani and its surrounding communities.

The workshop aimed to educate riders on safe riding practices, traffic regulations, and the importance of adhering to road safety measures to reduce the increasing number of road accidents in the municipality.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Emmanuel Kwami Awudzah, Senior Safety Officer at Asante Gold Bibiani LMT, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting community safety and sustainable development.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe that the safety of our host communities is a shared responsibility.
This program is part of our broader initiative to promote safety, discipline, and respect for the law among road users,” he said.

DSP Emmanuel Osei, the Bibiani MTTD Commander, led interactive sessions on topics such as traffic signs, helmet use, speed limits, and the dangers of overloading and drunk riding.

Riders were also sensitized on the need to acquire the necessary licenses and maintain their motorbikes in good condition.

DSP Osei commended Asante Gold Bibiani LMT for its continuous partnership with the police in promoting community safety.

“Road safety is a collective effort. We are grateful to Asante Gold Bibiani for their support in educating our riders and helping to prevent needless road crashes,” he said.

Mr. Anthony Fiifi, Chairman of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Okada Riders Association, on behalf of the association, expressed appreciation for the training, describing it as an eye-opener.

He pledged, on behalf of his members, to put into practice the knowledge gained and to encourage other riders to comply with road safety rules.

The workshop forms part of Asante Gold Bibiani LMT’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and safety of residents in its operational areas.
