Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai MCE Debunks DRIP Machine Hiring Rumors
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, Hon. Sebastian Obeng, has firmly denied rumors circulating within Bibiani that the Municipal Assembly is hiring out District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines for private use.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Obeng described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that the DRIP machines are being used solely for their intended purpose—improving road infrastructure within the municipality.
According to the MCE, the machines are currently engaged in reshaping and rehabilitating key township roads in Bibiani to make them more motorable and safe for road users. He noted that work has already been successfully completed on the California Road.
He further disclosed that the machines are now operating on the Aginia–Nsuotem road, where reshaping works are ongoing. The objective, he explained, is to improve traffic flow and provide an alternative route for vehicles traveling from Sefwi Bekwai to Kumasi.
“This intervention will help prevent heavy traffic from converging at the Bibiani roundabout, thereby reducing congestion within the township,” Hon. Obeng stated.
The MCE urged residents to disregard the rumors and assured the public that the Assembly remains committed to transparency and the effective use of government resources for the benefit of the municipality.
He also appealed to the public to support the ongoing road improvement efforts, emphasizing that the DRIP initiative is a critical component of the government’s agenda to enhance road networks and boost local economic activities.
