Fear has gripped residents of Sefwi Subrinkwanta following a suspected robbery attack at an illegal mining site,where a Chinese national and their Ghanaian driver were killed.The security personnel accompanying them sustained several injuries.

According to Mr. Frank Addae, Assembly member for the Kojina electoral area, the incident occurred while the victims were transporting gold concentrate, locally known as "black," from their mining site.

The attackers ambushed the victims, opening fire without warning and killing both men instantly. The assailants then escaped into the nearby forest with the gold.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy, and the police have launched a full investigation into the incident, treating it as a possible robbery.

"We are gripped with fear and calling for increased security presence in the area to restore law and order," Mr. Addae stated.

The incident highlights the dangers associated with illegal mining activities in the region, and Mr. Addae is urging authorities to take immediate action to address the issue and prevent further violence.
