Dr. William Okyere Frimpong, Lead Consultant of Nurses at Rover Med Consult, has expressed deep concern about the role and engagement of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) members. During the International Youth Day celebration, Dr. Frimpong commended young nurses and midwives, urging them to "lift their eyes beyond the ward and into the wide horizon of destiny that is possible."
Citing global statistics, he noted that youth aged 15-24 years comprise about 16% of the world's population, while nearly 38% of Ghana's population is considered youth. "This is not just a demographic fact," he stressed, "but also a demographic advantage that we must honor. Potential unused is potential lost; the clock is ticking, and the world won't wait for us to get ready."
Dr. Frimpong quoted singer John Legend, adding, "Our generation can't afford to wait until the future begins - yesterday was already late. We must embrace this call with impatient zeal to rise and do more." He drew inspiration from Proverbs 20:29, explaining that the glory of young people is their strength, while the splendor of older people is their gray hair. "Youth isn't just about having time ahead," he said. "It's about wisely using that time now, so when gray hair comes, you'll have something splendid to show."
The theme for this year's International Youth Day celebration is Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future. Dr. Frimpong emphasized that empowerment isn't simply handing over power but "lighting a spark of purpose in someone - teaching them to seal their potential with skill, wisdom, and heart. True empowerment means moving from potential to purpose.
