BIBIANI: National Sanitation Day: Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II Calls for Collective Effort in Environmental Sanitation

The National President of the House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining sanitation.

Speaking at the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal National Sanitation Day program, he urged the government to provide dustbins to all assemblies to be placed on major roadsides to prevent the choking of gutters.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II noted that the absence of waste bins in households, schools, and workplaces is contributing to serious environmental challenges in the community. He expressed optimism that the provision of dustbins would help alleviate the situation.

The Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo, called on constituents to actively participate in monthly nationwide clean-up exercises to improve environmental hygiene and public health.

He highlighted the success of the previous National Sanitation Day, which demonstrated the potential of citizen-led efforts in maintaining cleanliness.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Sebastian Obeng, urged residents of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai to embrace the initiative, not just as a civic duty, but as a reflection of national pride and identity.

"I urge all Ghanaians to come out in their numbers to help clean our surroundings, desilt gutters, and weed unkempt public spaces," he said."Let us make this a nationwide habit that reflects our identity as environmentally conscious people."
