Bibiani EC inaugurate Registration Review Committee

The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Bekwai District Electoral Commission (EC) has inaugurated its Registration Review Committee (DRRC).

The committee members took an oath of office by the Bibiani Magistrate Court Judge Her Worship, Beatrice Boatemaa Damoah.

In an interview with Bibianinews.com, Mr Francis Addai-Boateng , the Western North Regional Deputy Director of the Electoral Commission (EC) having an overnight responsibility for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District  explained that the committee members consisted of representatives from the Traditional Authority, Security Service, Ghana Education Service (GES), Electoral Commission (EC), and active political parties within the District.

He mentioned that a representative from the Traditional Authority, Nana Kwadwo Somuah II Sefwi Ntakamuhene, who also serves as Abakomahene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, assumed the role of chairman of the committee while the Electoral Commission (EC) representative is automatically the Secretary which is stated in the CI 91 which is the Law used for Registration. 

Mr Boateng stressed that this committee would help deal with challenges raised at the registration center.

“We have recorded a case where a registrant faced a challenge at Adobewura regarding nationality and I believe this committee would address it very soon,” he said.

He commended the two major political parties for their contributions in making the limited voter registration exercise a success thus far.
