NPP National Organiser appeals to the EC to prolong the days for the limited voter registration exercise
Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has made an earnest appeal to the Electoral Commission (EC) for an extension of the voter registration exercise duration. He cited the need for the additional time to ensure the EC reaches its ambitious target of 630,000 registrants.
With the current 21-day timeframe for the registration process, Nana Boakye expressed concerns about the potential shortfall in meeting the EC’s target due to the internet disruption in the first three days. He emphasized the importance of accommodating more citizens in the voter's role to enhance the democratic process and ensure broad participation in the upcoming elections.
He asserted that an extension would facilitate a more inclusive and comprehensive registration process, ultimately strengthening the democratic landscape.
The NPP National Organiser’s appeal comes amidst the ongoing voter registration exercise across the country, with political parties and stakeholders closely monitoring the progress and advocating for maximum participation.
He made this appeal during his tour to the Western North Region to monitor the voter registration exercise in the region.
Moreover, he commended the Electoral Commission, Security Service, and other stakeholders for their commitment to ensure the EC gets a credible voter register for the 2024 general elections.
