ATWIMA MPONUA NPP ELECTS NEW CONSTITUENCY EXECUTIVES AFTER COURT-RELATED DELAY

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti Region has elected a new team of constituency executives to lead and coordinate the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The election, held on September 19, 2026, was conducted under the authorisation of the NPP and the supervision of the Electoral Commission (EC), bringing to an end the delay that had prevented delegates in the constituency from participating in the earlier nationwide constituency executive elections.

Atwima Mponua was among the constituencies expected to participate in the nationwide exercise. However, on the original election day, delegates were informed that a legal challenge had been filed in connection with the constituency election.

The development prevented the delegates from casting their ballots, resulting in the postponement of the election in the constituency while the matter was addressed.

Following the resolution of the issue and the necessary authorisation for the election to proceed, the party organised a fresh poll on September 19, giving delegates the opportunity to elect executives to occupy the various constituency positions.

The election attracted 1,687 delegates, while a total of 32 aspirants contested the various positions.

The exercise saw intense competition in several of the positions, particularly the chairmanship, youth organiser, women's organiser, organiser, treasurer and communication officer positions.

KOFI ANTWI BOSSIAKO WINS CHAIRMANSHIP

In the closely contested chairmanship race, Kofi Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Nash, emerged victorious after securing 766 votes.

He was followed closely by Bismark Adjei Boadi, who polled 748 votes, while Jacob Yaro obtained 85 votes.

The result means Nash will lead the new constituency executive team for the next four years and will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the party at the constituency level in collaboration with the other elected executives.

KWADWO ASARE ELECTED 1ST VICE CHAIRMAN

The position of 1st Vice Chairman also attracted three contestants.

Kwadwo Asare emerged as the winner with 739 votes.

He was followed by Akwasi Osei Adu, who secured 638 votes, while Yakubu Salihu obtained 219 votes.

For the position of 2nd Vice Chairman, Adams Nasir Mohammed was elected unopposed.

The Secretary position was contested by two aspirants.

Ransford A. Kwabena emerged victorious after polling 843 votes, defeating Emmanuel Donfeh, who obtained 756 votes.

COLLINS BAFFOUR WINS ASSISTANT SECRETARY

Four aspirants contested the Assistant Secretary position.

Collins Baffour emerged victorious with 582 votes.

He was followed by Karim Awandy Awaah, who obtained 483 votes, while Godfred Adjei and Martin Prempeh secured 299 and 222 votes respectively.

KWAME OPPONG WINS ORGANISER POSITION

Four candidates competed for the Organiser position.

Kwame Oppong emerged victorious with 532 votes.

Abdul Moro placed second with 464 votes, followed by Mathew Akosah with 308 votes and Paul Obeng Agyemang with 288 votes.

FUSENI MOHAMMED ELECTED YOUTH ORGANISER

The Youth Organiser position produced one of the significant margins in the election.

Fuseni Mohammed won the position with an impressive 942 votes.

He was followed by Clinton Darko, who obtained 524 votes.

Richard Badu polled 68 votes, while Joseph Oppong secured 61 votes.

HAWA MORO WINS WOMEN'S ORGANISER

In the Women's Organiser contest, Hawa Moro emerged victorious with 796 votes.

She defeated Mercy Donkor, who polled 325 votes.

Adutwumwaa N. A. Gyamera obtained 232 votes, while Sophia Achampomaa secured 54 votes.

BAGURA MOHAMMED UNOPPOSED AS NASARA COORDINATOR

Bagura Mohammed was elected Nasara Coordinator unopposed.

His election means he will be part of the new constituency executive team responsible for coordinating activities involving the party's Nasara wing in the constituency.

ALBERT ASIEDU ELECTED COMMUNICATION OFFICER

The Communication Officer position was contested by two aspirants.

Albert Asiedu emerged winner with 850 votes, defeating Miracle Agen, who obtained 742 votes.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION CALLS FOR UNITY

Speaking to the media after the election, Madam Cynthia Helen, the Atwima Mponua District Electoral Commission Officer, commended the delegates and all the aspirants for their participation in the electoral process.

She described the successful completion of the exercise as an important step and encouraged all the contestants to accept the outcome of the election and work together.

Madam Cynthia Helen urged the aspirants and their supporters to put aside their differences following the election, stressing that they all belong to one political party.

She called on the newly elected executives to work together and ensure that the party remains united at the constituency level.

According to her, the election should not create divisions among party members, but rather provide an opportunity for the new leadership to bring members together and strengthen the party's structures.

NASH THANKS DELEGATES

The newly elected Constituency Chairman, Kofi Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Nash, expressed gratitude to the delegates for giving him their mandate.

Mr. Antwi Bosiako thanked those who supported his campaign and also acknowledged the other aspirants who contested the chairmanship position.

He described his election as a victory not only for himself but for the NPP and the Atwima Mponua Constituency.

He pledged to work to fulfil the promises he made during his campaign and to engage other stakeholders in the constituency in building a stronger party organisation.

Nash also called on his opponents and their supporters to join the new administration, stressing that the election had ended and the party must now focus on its broader objectives.

He said he was prepared to work with the newly elected executives and other party stakeholders to advance the interests of the NPP in Atwima Mponua.

NEW EXECUTIVES BEGIN FOUR-YEAR MANDATE

With the completion of the election, the newly elected executives are expected to take up their respective responsibilities and begin work on strengthening the party's constituency structures.

The new leadership will also be expected to work with polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, delegates, party supporters and other stakeholders to coordinate the party's activities across the constituency.

The election brings an end to the delay that followed the initial nationwide constituency elections and provides the Atwima Mponua Constituency with a new leadership team for the next four years.

Party members have been urged by the Electoral Commission and the newly elected chairman to maintain unity, cooperation and discipline as the new executives begin their mandate.
