Bethlehem Assembly Member Appeals for Completion of Abandoned Teachers’ Staff Common Room

Mr. Samuel Abugeri, Assembly Member for the Bethlehem Electoral Area in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, has appealed to the current Member of Parliament (MP) and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to help complete an unfinished staff common room project at Bethlehem United M/A Junior High School (JHS).

According to him, the project, initiated by former MP for the constituency, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng, is approximately 70 per cent complete but has remained stalled since the 2024 general elections, following the former MP's loss.

Mr. Abugeri expressed concern that no further progress had been made on the project and appealed to the current MP and MCE to intervene to ensure its completion for the benefit of teachers and students.

He stressed the need for a suitable staff common room to provide teachers with a conducive environment to rest, prepare lessons and undertake other professional duties.

The Headmaster of Bethlehem United M/A JHS, Mr. Solomon Kankan, also appealed for support to complete the facility.

He explained that teachers and students were excited when the former MP began the project because teachers had previously been using the shade of a mango tree as their staff room, a situation he described as unsuitable.

Mr. Kankan said completing the building would provide teachers with a more appropriate working environment and contribute to effective teaching and learning in the school.

He therefore called on stakeholders, particularly the current MP and MCE, to support the completion of the project to improve conditions for teachers and enhance education delivery at the school.
