SEFWI WIAWSO MCE CALLS FOR A PRICE CONTROL MECHANISM TO EASE THE BURDEN ON GHANAIANS
Despite recent signs of consumer inflation stabilization, the reality on the ground suggests a complex and unsettling picture. A closer look at Ghana's price trends reveals brewing cost pressures beneath the surface. While consumer inflation appears to be holding steady, producer prices tell a different story, one of rising costs and financial strain on businesses.
Reacting to the situation where the cost of items continues to rise despite recent economic gains, the Municipal Chief Executive for Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, Honourable Dominic Gyasi, has raised concerns about the need for the country to implement a price control mechanism that will prevent arbitrary price hikes.
Finally, Honourable Dominic Gyasi said in his speech that the strength of the cedi against the dollar should have reflected in the lives of Ghanaians, but we are not seeing that due to the absence of a price control mechanism. He also called on Ghanaians to desist from increasing prices arbitrarily to ease the hardship burden on the country.
