The Member of Parliament for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Bright Asamoah Brefo, in collaboration with the Municipal Chief Executive, Sebastian Obeng, has officially launched the 69th Independence Anniversary celebrations in Bibiani under the theme “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”

The grand launch marks a significant shift in how Independence Day is celebrated in the municipality. Addressing residents and stakeholders, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo disclosed that transforming the traditional March 6 celebration into a week-long festival was part of his campaign promise to the people of Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai.

According to the MP, in previous years, the celebration was observed for only a single day. However, the new format introduces a full week of engaging and impactful activities designed to unite the people, promote culture, and stimulate economic growth.

“This initiative is not about politics. It is about development and unity,” Hon. Brefo emphasized. “We want to create an atmosphere that will attract visitors from other parts of Ghana and even beyond. This will boost our local economy, promote tourism, and showcase the rich culture of Bibiani.”

He further noted that the week-long celebration would position Bibiani as a vibrant destination during the Independence festivities, while fostering a renewed sense of pride and patriotism among residents.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Sebastian Obeng, assured residents and visitors of adequate security throughout the celebration. He disclosed that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and successful event.

He encouraged people from within and outside the municipality to attend without fear.

“Our brothers and sisters should not think that Sefwi is a no-go area. Bibiani is peaceful and welcoming. Everyone should feel free to come and celebrate with us,” he stated.

Hon. Obeng also used the occasion to advise parents to speak to their children about staying away from drugs and other harmful substances during the festivities.

“While we are celebrating and having fun, it does not mean we should indulge in drug abuse. Let us celebrate responsibly and make this event memorable for the right reasons,” he cautioned.

The 69th Independence Anniversary celebration in Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai is expected to draw large crowds and serve as a platform to promote unity, culture, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the municipality.
