Constituents at Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, especially Sefwi Wenchi, expressed their admiration for their Member of Parliament (MP) for what they described as his selfless efforts in bringing development to the constituency and improving the well-being of the people.

The constituents cited the improvement in the education and health sectors, the rehabilitation of roads within the area as some of the developmental issues that the MP, Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng, popularly known as Approachers, has been pursuing to benefit the populace.

They made the remarks during an interaction with journalists when Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng spearheaded a free health screening exercise for residents of the Sefwi Wenchi electoral area.

A total of five nurses were brought in to screen the residents for various ailments, including hypertension, malaria, diabetes and Hepatitis B for free.

The exercise, according to Hon.Alfred Obeng-Boateng,was a part of his routine to communicate with and engage his constituents throughout the year.

He said it was his vision to ensure that his constituents have access to quality healthcare irrespective of their political colours.

This is to provide residents with the opportunity to undergo health checks for any bordering health issues and receive treatment for minor conditions.

He uses the opportunity to advise them on how to take care of their health, including regular exercise, nutrition monitoring and trips to the doctor.

Head of the medical team for the Health Screening exercise, Mrs Susana Adia said the selection of the three ailments for the screening was based on the prevalence of related cases within the Ghanaian society.

She revealed that “after they go through the screening process, cases of hypertension came up as the ailment most of the beneficiaries had.

She added that they will monitor them for some weeks and if they didn’t see any improvement, they will refer them to the Bibiani Government Hospital.

She urged the beneficiaries on how to take good care of themselves and stay healthy.

Some of the beneficiaries praised the MP for organizing such exercises for the less-privileged and the vulnerable in society.

Most of them were excited about the opportunity and thanked Hon Alfred Obeng-Boateng for the gesture and indicated that this was not the first time such exercise was being done for the constituents.

They mentioned that these exercises proved to be very helpful and can confirm that our health conditions improved after participating in some of the free health screenings organized by Approachers.

Most of the beneficiaries said they seldom visit the hospital for a medical check-up so, they depend heavily on the health screening exercise the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai MP organizes for them.

“I feel so excited and good about this help. Approachers, our MP, are providing for us. I would like to commend the MP for his consistency in ensuring that his constituents are healthy and fit always,” another beneficiary said.
