W/N/R : Multi Media And SefwiNews journalist assaulted at NPP’s Parliamentary Aspirant Vetting

The Western North Regional Multi Media ( Adom TV and FM ) correspondent Mr.Augustine Boah and SefwiNews.com editor Mr.Kwame Addoff has been assaulted during the Western North Regional NPP vetting of parliamentary aspirant at Sefwi Wiawso on 14th November,2023.

Speaking with the Multi Media staff Mr.Augustine Boah, he explained that I was part of the media guys who witnessed the NPP’s vetting for orphan constituencies today at the party’s regional office, Sefwi Wiawso.

In the course of the vetting, Adolf (of Sefwinews.com) and I were discussing the development of Bia West per the performance of the various DCEs the area has had.

In fact, we were discussing that with some supporters of Hon. Bernard Blay (DCE cum aspirant in Bia West). Then I said, looking at the performances of the various DCEs for the area, the immediate past, John Koah stands tall. Fast forward, the supporter did not agree with me and he started mentioning some of the things Hon. Bernard Blay has done.

Upon hearing that, Adolf and I knelt down ( in a funny way) and said Hon. John Koah should forgive us because there were a series of stories we did against him thinking this current DCE could have done, but he has also failed.

Later, we heard the bunch of supporters insulting us for saying Hon. John Koah performed better than Hon. Blay. So one Hubert told us to leave the place looking at how they were behaving, so we complied. We left the scene for about 15-20 minutes and later came to continue with our interviews with aspirants.

We then saw Hon. Blay coming out from the vetting room. His supporters went to inform him that I had spoken against him. Not funny, the Hon DCE was very furious - not knowing exactly what I said but juxtaposing what his followers had told him.

We never mind. We wanted to interview the other aspirants because he, Hon. Blay seemed not to be ready for the interview.  We were going to interview Frank Cudjoe AKA Cocoa Sika and suddenly, one supporter of Hon. Blay slapped me and another person also hit my head.

That was not enough. A different person rushed to Adolf and booted him onto the floor. It took the supporters of Cocoa Sika to save us from the beatings. It was very sorry to see Hon. Blay flying his hands in the air - and talking ‘anyhow’ to us without knowing the source of the brouhaha between us and his supporters.

It all ended there, and we continued with what we were doing.

Sincerely, I have reported to the appropriate offices, and they have given us the full assurance this issue wouldn’t be swept under the carpet.

I want to use this opportunity to thank our colleagues who were present there for their support and intervention. And I urge we continue to support each other in this perilous time in the hands of undemocratic political actors.
