Bibiani Old Transport Terminal Upgraded to Improve Commuter Experience
The Bibiani Old Transport Terminal has received a major facelift as the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly undertakes improvement works to enhance conditions for drivers, passengers, and traders.
As part of the upgrade, the Assembly has levelled the terminal grounds and spread chippings across the area. The intervention is expected to significantly reduce the challenges faced during rainy periods, when the station often becomes muddy and difficult to navigate. With the new surface, vehicles can move more smoothly, while passengers can access transport services in a cleaner and safer environment.
Speaking to the media, the Municipal Chief Executive, Sebastian Obeng, explained that the project forms part of the Assembly’s mandate to improve infrastructure and ensure the wellbeing of residents.
“It is the responsibility of the Assembly to provide basic infrastructure that supports economic activities and improves daily life. This intervention will go a long way to ease movement at the terminal, especially during the rainy season,” he noted.
The development has been warmly welcomed by transport operators. On behalf of the drivers’ union, the Bibiani Old Station Chairman, Richard Addai, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for responding to their long-standing concerns.
He further appealed for additional support, particularly the provision of dustbins at the station to improve sanitation.
“We are very grateful for this work. It will help both drivers and passengers. However, we are appealing to the Assembly to provide dustbins so that people can dispose of waste properly instead of littering the station,” he said.
The upgrade is expected to boost commercial activities at the terminal and contribute to maintaining a cleaner and more organized transport hub in Bibiani.
