Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council Donates GH¢50,000 to Support Queens Girls SHS

The Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council has pledged GH¢50,000 to support the development and improvement of Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls Senior High School.

The announcement was made by the Omanhene of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area and President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, during the official dedication and handing-over ceremony of newly constructed teachers’ accommodation at the school.

The teachers’ bungalow, comprising four two-bedroom apartment units, was constructed and donated to the school by Elder Prince Asamoah and his wife, Mrs. Margaret Asamoah, Chief Executive Officer of the Prince Mark Group of Companies.

Traditional Council pledges support

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, who is also the founder of Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls SHS, said the Traditional Council considered the development of the school a shared responsibility and was therefore committed to supporting efforts to improve infrastructure and the general learning environment.

He announced the GH¢50,000 donation as part of the Traditional Council’s contribution towards addressing some of the school’s developmental needs.

The Omanhene called on other individuals, organisations and stakeholders to support the school, stressing that quality education requires collective efforts from government, traditional authorities, the private sector and members of the community.

He also commended Elder Prince Asamoah and Mrs. Margaret Asamoah for their investment in the school, describing the teachers’ accommodation project as an important contribution towards improving teachers’ welfare and enhancing effective teaching and learning.

Chiefs join the support

The ceremony also witnessed additional contributions from some of the chiefs who attended the programme.

Apart from the GH¢50,000 pledged by the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, individual chiefs made their own donations in cash and kind to support the school.

Among the items presented was a refrigerator, alongside financial contributions intended to assist the school in meeting some of its immediate needs.

The additional donations demonstrated the commitment of the traditional leadership to the development of education within the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area.

Support for education

The various contributions are expected to help the school address some of its infrastructure and logistical challenges and create a more conducive environment for both teachers and students.

The Headmistress of Sefwi Anhwiaso Queens Girls SHS, Mrs. Evelyn Doris Acquah, has previously appealed for additional teachers’ accommodation, a modern science laboratory and an assembly hall to enhance teaching, learning and student activities.

The latest commitments from the Traditional Council and individual chiefs are therefore expected to complement ongoing efforts to improve facilities at the school.

The ceremony brought together traditional leaders, school authorities, teachers, students, parents, private-sector representatives and other stakeholders, highlighting the growing collaboration between traditional authorities and the private sector in supporting education.

The school community expressed appreciation to the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council, the chiefs and the Asamoah family for their contributions, while encouraging other philanthropists and organisations to support the school’s remaining infrastructure needs.
