A/R : Nana Toasehene Nana Ayim Awere Ababio II and DCE Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo engage the Amadaa community in combating illegal mining activities
On Friday 22nd March 2024, the Chief of Toase Nana Yim Awere Ababio II, together with the DCE of Atwima Mponua Hon Isaac Kofi Marfo, met the people of Amadaa to discuss the best ways of fighting against the “Toto Toto” menace.
The DCE expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Toase for supporting in the combating of illegal mining activities and showing his commitment towards development. He mentioned efforts taken by his office deal with the illegal mining activities menace. The purchase of outboard motor, boat and also hiring the services of the Small-Scale Miners Association Task Force to assist destroy some equipments of some of the “Toto Totò” miners and further arresting some.
He also assured the community of his commitment to ensuring the eradication of the illegal mining activities in the district. He charged the people and Nana nom to also offer their quota deal with these illegal mining activities. He also stated some measures that would be implemented to ensure that concessioners also play a part in the community's development and the miners prioritize the welfare of the people.
Toasehene Nana Ayim Awere II expressed his worries over how lands are being degraded and water Ofin being polluted by the illegal miners. He further stated that whoever is caught selling his/her land for illegal mining activities or giving out his/her room for rent to the culprits shall be considered an accomplice and be dealt with. He assured the people of putting measures in place together with the Government to address unemployment in the community.
