NDP Secretary Urges Unity After the Death of Founder Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings

The Western North Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Mr. Francis Obeng Kom, has called for unity and renewed commitment among members of the party following the death of its founder and leader, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr. Obeng Kom described the passing of Nana Konadu as a great loss not only to the NDP but also to Ghana as a whole. He said the late leader played a key role in championing democracy, women’s empowerment, and social justice, leaving behind a legacy that should continue to inspire party members and the nation.

He noted that the NDP, though mourning, remains strong and active under the current leadership. According to him, the death of Nana Konadu should not weaken the party’s spirit but rather serve as a call for greater unity and dedication to the ideals she stood for.

“We have indeed lost a mother, a leader, and a visionary, but the National Democratic Party she founded is still alive and strong. We will continue to protect her legacy and work harder to make her proud,” he said.

Mr. Obeng Kom further urged all NDP executives and supporters to put aside any internal differences and focus on rebuilding the party’s structures across the country. He expressed optimism that with teamwork and discipline, the NDP can emerge stronger and position itself as a formidable force ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He concluded by emphasizing that the best way to honor Nana Konadu’s memory is to continue her vision of a just, prosperous, and inclusive Ghana — a country where women and youth have equal opportunities to contribute to national development.
