The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District Electoral Commission (EC) had a total of 3154 new voters who were captured in the just ended Limited Registration Exercise. Only one (1) Challenged case was recorded which was successfully dealt with by the District Registration Review Committee (DRRC).

The Electoral Commission on 7th May, 2024 initiated the Registration Process for Ghanaians who recently turned the age of 18 years and older people who for one reason or the other could not register previously. This opportunity was offered them to be able to take part in the upcoming important 7th December, 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

The 21-day exercise, which commenced on Tuesday, May 7, was extended by two days to make up for the challenges that characterised the first two days of the process.

Despite the initial technical challenges that nearly marred the exercise on the first two days and on the last day, political party agents expressed satisfaction with the process, stating that they successfully met their targets.

The registration process resulted in the registration of 1448 males, representing (45.9%), and 1706 females, representing (54.1%).

“Following a fruitful exercise, we managed to record 3154 new applicants in the register in the Bibiani District, but it is important to note that this figure is provisional. We encountered only one disputed case, which we resolved,” Mr Addai-Boateng Francis,Deputy Regional Director for Western North having an oversight responsibility in Bibiani stated.

He added that 1338 people registered with Ghana Card, 2 also registered with  Passport while 1913 used  the Guarantor System.

The Age distribution were as follows, between the age of 18-21, 2857 people registered out of which 1282 males and 1573 females, 22-35 years 206 people registered, 105 males and 101 females, 35-45 years 46 people registered, 32 males and 14 females, 46-55 years 29 people registered, 19 males and 10 females, 56-65 years 13 people registered 7 males and 6 females, 66-75 years 3 people registered 1 male and 2 females and 76 years and above 2 males registered.

He explained that after the Registration Exercise the EC is continuing with Voter Transfers, Replacement of lost or Damaged Voter ID Cards and also receiving applications for Proxy Voting at all their District Offices from 30th May to 14th June, 2024.

He therefore used the opportunity to thank the District Registration Review Committee (DRRC) , the Security service for their cooperation in support and both NPP and NDC for their also comportment.
