Health Minister Eulogizes Philanthropists for Supporting Bibiani Infrastructure

The Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, made a surprise visit to the Bibiani Municipal Hospital, accompanied by the Director General of the Ghana Health Service.

During a media engagement following a closed-door meeting with hospital management, he expressed delight over philanthropists' support for the hospital's infrastructural expansion.

The Minister urged everyone to prioritize health concerns, noting that health facilities across Ghana may receive unannounced visits from him at any time. He acknowledged that while some health workers perform exceptionally, others display questionable attitudes, but encouraged gradual improvements.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Adu Gyamfi, described the visit as "nice" and expressed hope that it would inspire them to do more. He highlighted challenges facing the facility, including equipment maintenance and the lack of a clinical engineer. Dr. Gyamfi assured that efforts are underway to address staff attitude issues.

The hospital has recorded cases of mpox in the municipality, and Dr. Gyamfi stated that steps are being taken to curb its spread. The Minister's visit included interactions with staff and patients, and recommendations were made to improve the hospital's services.
