Ghana Pharmacy Council embarks on five days sensitization at Western North Region

The Ghana Pharmacy Council amongst its duties has embarked on a five days sensitization programme in the Western North Region to eliminate unprescribed activities of some ‘over the counter’ known as drugstore dealings.

Speaking to Mr. William Ruttmern, head of Enforcement and Intelligence Gathering Department-Ghana Pharmacy Council has said that through this exercise, they have been able to identified and arrest some Mobile Money Operators, Herbal sellers who are not to sell Orthodox medicines, some Provision Store Operators that are not to sell tramadol.

Ghana Pharmacy Council handles the regulations of medicines and drugs in the country and it’s only institution that can license unqualified to be qualified before he or she can sell or deal with drugs and medicine but before you becomes qualified, there’s a process to meet before Pharmacy Council ascent on your participations - Mr. William Ruttmern.

Tramadol is an opioid medicine used for the short-term relief of moderate-to-severe pain. Medical professionals rarely recommend using Tramadol to treat chronic (long-term) pain. Tramadol is only available to prescribe your doctor. Therefore, anybody who sells tramadol to any fellow without a doctor’s prescription will be taken on - Mr. William Ruttmern added.
