Around the world, seeing the crescent moon marks the start of Ramadan, and this year, it began on the evening of March 10. This means the first day of fasting for Muslims began on March 11, and the last day is predicted to be on April 9.
For each day of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset, meaning they do not eat or drink during those hours. It is a way for them to experience suffering and develop greater empathy toward those who do not have access to food or water.
Ramadan is a time for them to strengthen their relationship with God, such as through giving charity, reciting the Qur’an, making dua (supplication), and practising moral character.
It is also an opportunity for them to spend quality time with family, friends, and the community, such as by attending communal iftars (the meal which breaks one’s fast) and Tarawih (prayers which take place at the masjid every night of Ramadan).
Because of this, Alhaji Ben Ali Seaman, the chairman of patrons of the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) has donated pure water and non-alcoholic drinks to Bibiani College of Health and Allied Sciences branch of the Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA).
In his brief address, he said the aim was to put smiles on the faces of Muslims brothers and sisters partaking in the Ramadan fast.
“You already know that nursing is going to be hard,” You already know that it is going to push you and," Yet despite all that you was here in nursing school I will entreat you to take your studies serious, “he added.
Abdul Gaffaru, the president of the Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA) of the school who received the items on behalf of the association said there are more rewards for doing good in Ramadan when Muslim does good according to the teachings of the Islamic religion.
He thanked Alhaji Ben Ali Seaman for the gesture and appeal of other benevolent organizations to assist them in completing their masjid.
