"Discontinuation of Zoomlion Contract is a Sign of Resetting Ghana's Agenda" - Joseph Addae

Joseph Addae, the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Organizer for Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Constituency, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his decision to discontinue the contract between Zoomlion and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA). 

According to Addae, this move is a significant step towards resetting Ghana's agenda, aligning with the NDC's 2024 manifesto theme, "Resetting Ghana".

The contract between Zoomlion and YEA has been shrouded in controversy, with allegations of corruption and unfair labor practices. Zoomlion allegedly pays workers a meager GH₵ 180 per month, while charging the government GH₵ 600 per worker. This discrepancy has led to widespread criticism, with many calling for the contract to be terminated.

Addae praised President Mahama for recognizing the need to end this exploitative contract. The decision is seen as a victory for workers' rights and a step towards transparency and accountability in government contracting. By discontinuing the contract, the government aims to address the grievances of workers and ensure fair labor practices.

Addae further explained that the discontinuation of the contract is expected to positively impact workers who have been underpaid and exploited. It may also set a precedent for future government contracts, prioritizing workers' welfare and fair compensation. This move aligns with the NDC's commitment to protecting workers' rights and promoting social justice.
