Bright Asamoah Brefo Calls for Reconciliation and Unity After Bibiani NDC Primaries

Bibiani, Western North Region – The Member of Parliament for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Bright Asamoah Brefo, has called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to prioritise reconciliation and unity following the party's constituency-level elections.

According to him, one of the major challenges confronting the party, particularly in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, is the difficulty in bringing members together after internal elections.

Hon. Brefo made the remarks during the NDC constituency elections, where he stressed the need for party members to put aside their differences and work together for the collective interest of the party.

He expressed concern that disagreements arising from previous internal elections continued to affect relationships among some members, making reconciliation difficult even years after the contests.

The MP referred to events surrounding the party's primaries approximately four years ago, observing that some members were still unhappy and unwilling to embrace reconciliation and unity.

He noted that such divisions could undermine the party's cohesion and weaken its ability to work effectively towards its political objectives.

Calls for Leaders Who Promote Unity

Hon. Brefo suggested that delegates should consider the ability of aspirants to promote reconciliation, unity and peaceful coexistence when choosing their leaders.

He emphasised that leadership within the party should go beyond winning elections, explaining that elected executives must also possess the ability to bring aggrieved members together and rebuild relationships after internal contests.

According to him, the party needs leaders who can engage both winners and losers, resolve disagreements and ensure that no member feels abandoned because of the outcome of an election.

He further stressed that successful aspirants must be prepared to work with their opponents and supporters of other candidates to strengthen the party's structures at the constituency level.

Reconciliation Key to Party Unity

The MP's comments highlight the importance of reconciliation in maintaining unity within the NDC, particularly after competitive internal elections.

Political observers often point to internal cohesion as an important factor in building strong party structures and sustaining effective grassroots mobilisation.

Hon. Brefo's appeal therefore serves as a reminder that internal elections should not create lasting divisions among party members.

He urged NDC members in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency to put the party's collective interest above personal disagreements and work together towards their shared political goals.

He maintained that genuine reconciliation and unity would be essential to strengthening the party and preparing its members for future electoral contests.
