Big Aidoo Commends Security Agencies for Peaceful NDC Constituency Elections in Western North
Western North Region – Hon. Michael Aidoo, popularly known as Big Aidoo, a Council of State member and the Western North Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has commended the security agencies in the Western North Region for their role in ensuring peaceful and successful constituency-level elections in the region.
Speaking to the media after the elections, Hon. Aidoo expressed appreciation to the security personnel for their professionalism, vigilance and efforts in maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process.
According to him, the presence and effective work of the security agencies helped create a peaceful atmosphere, allowing party members and delegates to participate in the elections without major confrontations.
He noted that internal party elections can sometimes become tense, particularly when aspirants and their supporters are determined to win their respective positions.
Hon. Aidoo observed that some aspirants believe that the financial resources they invest in their campaigns should guarantee them victory, regardless of the circumstances. He cautioned against such attitudes, stressing that the desire to win an election should not become an excuse for violence or actions that threaten the peace and unity of the party.
He emphasised that elections should be conducted in an atmosphere of peace, discipline and respect for the democratic process, irrespective of the amount of money or resources invested by the contestants.
The regional chairman praised the security agencies for their efforts in managing the situation and preventing potential disturbances during the elections.
He further stressed the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after internal elections, urging aspirants and their supporters to accept the outcome of the process and work together for the common good of the party.
Hon. Aidoo's commendation highlights the role of security agencies in protecting lives and property and ensuring that electoral activities are conducted in a safe and orderly environment.
He called on political party members to cooperate with security personnel and prioritise peaceful participation in all political activities.
The NDC constituency elections in the Western North Region form part of the party's internal democratic process to elect leaders who will help strengthen its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
