The Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Social Welfare Officer, Mr. Ellis Mensah, has disclosed that the Social Welfare Department has registered a total of 620 persons with disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality as part of efforts to ensure they benefit from government interventions and social protection programmes.

Mr. Mensah made the disclosure in an interview with the media following the successful election of new executives of the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Branch of the Ghana Blind Union.

According to him, the department remains committed to improving the welfare and living conditions of persons with disabilities by facilitating their access to various government support programmes and services. He noted that the department continues to work closely with disability groups to ensure that no eligible person is left behind.

He assured members of the Ghana Blind Union that the Social Welfare Department will continue to collaborate with them to promote their well-being, protect their rights, and create opportunities that will enable them to live dignified and productive lives.

Mr. Mensah further urged members of the Ghana Blind Union to remain united and support one another in advancing the objectives of the association. He stressed that unity among members would strengthen their collective voice and make it easier for the department and other stakeholders to address their concerns effectively.
