Bibiani Municipal Hospital Appeals for Beds and Mattresses to Improve Quality Healthcare Delivery

The management of the Bibiani Municipal Hospital has appealed to individuals, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations, philanthropists and the general public to support the facility with hospital beds and mattresses to enhance quality healthcare delivery.

The appeal was made by the Chief Nursing Officer of the hospital, Mrs. Justina Akuvi Dotse, during a presentation of wheelchairs by philanthropist and Chief Executive Officer of Jesus Open Doors, Mr. Francis Coffie, as part of activities marking his birthday celebration.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Dotse expressed gratitude to Mr. Coffie for donating the wheelchairs, describing the gesture as timely and a major boost to the hospital's efforts to provide quality healthcare services.

According to her, the Bibiani Municipal Hospital has grown beyond serving only residents of the municipality and is now functioning as a referral centre for patients from neighbouring regions, including the Central, Ashanti, Bono and Western Regions.

She explained that the increasing number of referrals has placed enormous pressure on the hospital's resources, making it difficult to meet the growing demand for healthcare services.

Mrs. Dotse disclosed that before the donation, the hospital had only two wheelchairs, a situation she described as a major challenge in transporting patients within the facility, particularly the elderly, emergency cases and persons with disabilities.

She further revealed that, although the hospital has dedicated and hardworking health professionals committed to delivering quality care, the shortage of hospital beds and mattresses remains one of its biggest challenges.

"The commitment of our staff has never been in doubt, but we urgently need more beds and mattresses to accommodate the increasing number of patients who visit the hospital every day," she said.

The Chief Nursing Officer thanked Mr. Francis Coffie and the Jesus Open Doors Foundation for the generous donation and assured the donors that the wheelchairs would be properly maintained and used for the benefit of patients.

She used the occasion to appeal to benevolent individuals, corporate institutions, religious organisations and development partners to support the hospital with beds, mattresses, wheelchairs and other essential medical equipment to improve healthcare delivery.

Mrs. Dotse stressed that providing quality healthcare is a shared responsibility and called on all stakeholders to partner with the hospital to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

Presenting the wheelchairs, Mr. Francis Coffie, popularly known as Jesus Open Doors, said the donation formed part of his birthday activities and reflected his commitment to supporting healthcare delivery and giving back to society.

He encouraged individuals who have been blessed to support health facilities and other institutions in their communities, noting that such acts of kindness can save lives and improve the well-being of many people.

The presentation was witnessed by hospital staff and well-wishers, who commended the gesture and appealed for more support from the public to help address the infrastructure and equipment needs of the Bibiani Municipal Hospital.
